The National Archives is hosting a panel on the men who supported women’s suffrage. Please join us for the discussion between Susan Ware, editor of the American Biographical Encyclopedia, Brooke Kroeger, author of The Suffragents, and me, Johanna Neuman, author of Gilded Suffragists: The New York Socialites Who Fought for Women’s Right to Vote and the soon to be published new book, And Yet They Persisted: How American Women Won the Right to Vote. The newspapers of the day referred to these progressives as “Mere Men” and their contribution was little credited when the 19th Amendment was ratified. We will discuss their role, their motives and their impact. Should be a fun event. Please join us.
